Mickey1What is more enjoyable
What is more enjoyable?
Planning a trip to Africa, shopping for new 'goodies', new rifle, clothes etc? Or
Remembering the trip, looking at the trophies , pictures, bragging to fellow hunters about Africa in the 'good old days' etc.
In other words the anticipation or the memories?

JBoutfishnI have to give equal billing to the anticipation of the trip and the Post Safari Depression (PSD) that follows the actual adventure.
quote:

I remember the drive to the airport to board my flight to DAR, still anticipating what turned out to be the hunting adventure of my life. All of the planning, working up the necessary loads, hours of practice at the range and the motivation from attending the SCI Convention at Las Vegas.
PSD? Still "suffering" that great motivator. I took over 300 pictures, talk of the trip to anyone who is interested, and look at the pics more than is healthy
How great was it? I have booked a trip to SA in April 2004. The excitment and acticipation is no different from the last Safari. Different Country, different animals, different people, different rifles, new loads to work up, more practice, enjoying every minute of it ![[Wink]](images/icons/wink.gif)

bo-n-aroI would have to go for the memories.
To me, the mounts, pics and the sharing the stories with "everyone" lets me re-live it again and again............ and .......... makes me wont to go back!
So maybe after thinking about it...... maybe the planning is just as good????

LV EricGreat question. Reminds my of the chicken or egg question. I dont know the answere so I just keep going back to Africa. Perhaps after enough days in the bush I'll have the answere.

AtkinsonThe memories, and the friends that were there that have taken another road.
They can take away the trophies, the guns, the plans, but never the memories.
But thats from and old mans perspective, not a young mans...the planning, the anticipation has left me, its a pain these days, I sometimes even dred going, but..Once I get there the fire begans to burn, I'm home, where I'm supposed to be, now I'm content.
