New about Louis at Afton
I'd imagine that almost half of the folks who have been through Johannesburg have met Louis (I think it is so spelled, but pronounced "Louie"?) at Afton House and (from a previous post) know that he was diagnosed with cancer.
I just got off of the phone with him and he is in good spirits. Friday is his first chemo treatment and he is looking forward to kicking the stuffings out of this thing that has "aholt" of him. (good South Georgia term)
He especially asked me to post and to thank all the folks that have sent him best wishes and have prayed for him. He is overwhelmed with your expressions of hope. He said that he believes in the power of prayer and can physically feel the kindness and brotherly love from his friends.
He has been back at work for two days and hopes to be able to keep at it during the difficult times of treatment.
Afton House is kind of like having an extention of your own den at the crossroads of Southern Africa. I've run into folks I met at conventions and hunts from all around the world, as I'm sure all of you have. Let's pray that Louis is there for our next 20 years of safaris!
Hang in there fellow!

Fulldraw Outdoor MediaLouis is truly one of the best guys I've ever met in this business. I've stayed with him on a couple of occasions and can't say enough about the Afton Guest House. I hope he beats this thing down and is doing better soon.

A friend of mine is staying at Afton House next month on the way to Zim. Is Louis keeping regular hours or is someone else minding the store for him? Wish him all the best!!
