That's too bad...I liked Mauro. I drank with him several times at the Sea Cliff, and he always sent me new hunting pics via Whatsapp!

I only knew Mauro from meeting and talking to him once, for a brief time, on a dirt runway in the Selous.

He had a certain sort of nobility about him.

A gentleman, through and through.

I wish I had known him better.

Mike Angiledes referred to him as “Larger than life itself” in his Instagram post.
Never met him but followed his career somewhat. Elephant hunter who had a good run with Pasanissi before the poaching put an end to it. Then to Botswana before the ban, then to Zim. What was really nice is he took a 96 pounder in Botswana earlier this year to go out on.

RIP Mauro, you will be missed by many.
