Giraffe HunterLion pedestal mounts
Is it possible to have a shoulder or half lion mounted on a pedestal? Would this type of mount look out of place or funny?
I would like to see some pictures of one if anyone has any.
Thanks for your help.

I always thought this is how I would have a lion done, shows the muscular chest off nicely. Photo is from Artworks Taxidermy website.

Adam Clementswould show you a really nice pedistal mount of a lion with hyena, but have never gotten into posting pictures here. I know there are directions on how to do it, but frankly to much and do not have time to do it. I would be glad to e-mail it to you though if you are interested or to anyone else who knows how the posting picture stuff works. It is one of a kind mount!

mbogo375Here is the mount that Adam posted about. He says that it was done by Taxidermy Art Studio, and was in his booth at SCI. Fantastic mount Adam, I am sure that it would look great in my trophy room

<allen day>To me, pedestal mounts always make the lion look like he was beheaded. I prefer either a rug, or better yet -- life-size -- and on today's market, a good lion is surely worth a life-size mount.

I have seen some pedestal lion mounts that were really beautiful, there is one done by Animal Artistry in Reno that is fantastic. However--If I had only one lion trophy-which I do-there is no way that I could put that much time and money in a trophy without doing a lifesize-which I did. Now for the second or third-not too likely considering the state of lion hunting today, I might go with a pedestal mount. The other reason that I would go with a pedestal was if I just didn't have enough room.

Adam ClementsThanks Mbogo,Boss and M1. I love pedestal mounts for some reason myself, but also like the lifesize as well, so I guess it just depends on each person and what they like.

BoghossianI saw a mount in the Intercontinental hotel in Jo'burg that was of a lion's front half, coming out of the wall with both front legs extended as if to catch something....it was great, but I agree with Allen....zebra/lion/leopard- don't give them the chop, go with a rug, rug/with mounted head, OR full mount!
I agree, for the kind of cash you have to put out to hunt a big kitty, a full mount just seems to do it more justice.

BoghossianWow, that is a great mount---would need an extension to house it though...what was the price tag?
A good compromise is a rug w/mounted head, cheaper, less bulky but still shows the sharp end off!
