SnowwolfeAfrican resident hunting questions
Question for you folks that reside in African countries such as Zim, Zambia, South Africa, etc.
If you are a "normal" resident of these countries and want to go hunting, what options do you have?
Do you need a guide? Are your trophy fees less? Are there public lands you can hunt?
Thanks

fairgameYes you can apply for a resident hunt or hunt private land and you do not need a PH but a monitoring scout and the fees are less.

KarooAll hunting land in South Africa is privately owned, as is the wildlife. We are still bound by hunting seasons, varying by species. High fenced properties are virtually exempt from this.
Some of our land, such as mine, falls into a conservancy with different rules, and is not high fenced.
A foreigner has to be accompanied by a PH. A local will generally pay a "landowner price" for trophy animals, which would typically be what the outfitter would pay before his add-on to the client.
Meat hunters, of course, pay a different and lower fee. Meat hunting is hardly worth it for many ranchers.
Many of us hunt on friends' ranches and they hunt on ours.
