elkfitterGetting Trophies Back Home
I will be hunting in Namibia this May and I'm trying to figure out how I get my capes and horns back to the USA. My PH uses a taxidermist in Windhoek so I assume that is where they will be dipped and packed. My taxidermist is in Meeker Colorado and he suggests I have them shipped directly to the tanner he uses near Houston, TX. Is there a broker or a service to help with this? It so how do I contact them? Are the arraignments made now or in Windhoek?
Any suggestions?

David CulpepperIt has worked like this getting them back from RSA.
1. My taxidermst here in US makes shipping tags for me with my address on one side and shipping broker on the other.
2. PH/Outfitter drops them off with African taxidermist to dip and pack. Then when done, usually a few months, I get an email from taxidermst requesting payment and I make sure to keep my broker updated.
3. Africa taxidermst takes to shipper and stuff gets shipped.
4. Broker clears all and handles all paperwork and shipps to my taxidermst, has to be a USDA approved facility, then bills me.
There are several shipping brokers to choose from like Coppersmiths and Floura & Fauna, just do a search in the internet. I have used Coppersmiths twice with no problems.
Hope this helps some.

DesertRamHad real good luck with Pam Foerster of Air Cargo International (or something like that) in Windhoek (on the Namibia side) and Maria Felix of Hunter International Brokerage Services (broker on the US side).

Wendell ReichYes, your taxidermist is correct. That is the easiest way.
ABX Logistics in Houston will clear them and forward them on to the tannery.

I have had ABX handle the clearing of trophies for me before and I do recommend them.

elkfitterThanks guys for all the great info.
Any clue as to what to expect for charges from the broker: 6 plains game no warthog no primates
I have used the same people on both ends as DesertRam, and had no problems. They were great.as
