Wow, this is good news. This kind of event can create a trend among the youth of a country if properly organised. UAE may turn out a long line of crackshots...

The 144 score was in trap, and the winner in that event shot 149. His gold medal was in double trap, and his score was 189, which ties the Olympic Record set in Sydney four years ago.

I saw his winning score was 144 / 49, out of couriousity what is a perfect score or the best one ever shot in the olympics

Just thought I'd let everyone know that Kim Rhode of the USA won the Gold Medal today in women's double trap.

I also heard that this is the first and last Olympics in which the double trapshooting event will be featured. Seems a shame. I wonder why?

I understand it a little differently. Kim also won that event in 2000 (or 96?). They were talking today saying that she has the distinction of winning the first, and last (different) gold medals in the sport.

Shooting is becoming less "socially acceptable" worldwide?

Gotta make room for the beach volleyballers?

Anything to due with guns is taboo lately?

Kim is a great young lady, and she won the gold in Atlanta in '96. She is a member of our SCI Chapter, and we did a fund raiser for her as well as some cash contributions.

I didn't know about the demise of trap doubles, but the "no guns" people are killing gun sports whenever the chance appears.

I just watched the San Diego local NBC and national news, no mention of Kim's medal.

Bah, humbug.
