I've mistaken a dog for a lion also. But, I don't shoot when I've been drinking.

The cop was just trying to do his job; everybody knows that you should always shoot lions in the paw so they can't scratch you.

1972 outside of Pittsburgh - My beagle got loose and was running rabbits on a hill behind my house. A police officer heard or saw him barking and running around in circles and thought he was rabid. He shot and killed my dog because he did not know how beagles hunt.
I was at football practice and heard the shots but did not know what they were until I found out when I got home for dinner. You can't teach that kind of dumb. No apology was offered.

Thank God! Based on other threads I was sure that some bad South African operators had set up shop in Wisconsin and released a captive raised lion for a "shoot".

The skillfully trained police officer, we'll versed in shooting skills, managed to shoot the massive dog in the paw. Only 15 rounds, plus one reload were necessary. Owners of the house behind the animal will not be reimbursed for the holes. Comments or suggestions can be referred to the Public iInformation Officer at the police department in the next county.
