SaeedOne rifle has a painted stock.
The other one has a stock with paint in the glass, that is why it is not showing any wear.

SaeedWe are in camp.
Had a great flight on Emirates, and then a short hop to the camp.
There is more water in the river this year, which is great.
Hippos have been very vocal throughout the night.
No sounds of hyenas yet - no meat in camp.
Something which we ope to correct today.
We are going to check our rifles once the sun is p, and head out hunting.

We hope to orrect this.
Had breakfast, and went seperate ways hunting.
Saw two old dugga boys, and ran after them. We could not get a shot as they just gave us a gliumpse here and there.
Gave up on them and went looking for something else.
Not long after, we ouns fresh tracks of buffalo, and folowed them.
Afew kilometers on their tracks, we saw a small herd of eland, with a good bull.
They were into teh sun, and difficult to see.
Eventually the bull showed up, and all could seewas is neck.
He dropped at the shot, and we an up to him and put a finisher in, alhough it was not needed.
We covered him up and continues chasing the buffalo.
After a while we decied to go pick our eland and go back to camp for lunch.
A great start to our safari.
We have no dea how Maktoum and his party are doing yet.

Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue.
What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

SaeedI shot an old duggaboy which has been evading us for years in the afternoon.
Quite a fun hunt, I will post details later.
Maktoum also shot a buffalo.

SaeedThis old bull has given us quie a run around.
We have chased him several times, and he has always managed to give us the slip.
In fact, one time he ookus through a korongo full of buffalo beans!!
We came out of thee running, scratchig every inch of our anatomy
He almost gave us the slip this time too.
We were driving along in the afternoon, and someone saw him in a korongo with lots of grass and rocks.
We tried to see him, but ecause of the rocks and the grass, ots f black spots, large and small, and he was in the shadow too.
Eventually I saw him running up the hillside.
I tried to get a shot if he got clear.
He did.
And I yanked the trgger, with the safety on!
Our chance has gone, and he was invisible again.
The he was just about to go over the hill and I fired.
Hit him n the rear, and dropped.
We had a bit of a struggle running up that hill to get to him, very rough going.
We got up there, and he actually growled at us as we got close.
I put another bullet in his head and he dropped.
It as getting late, and there was no way we could get the truck to him.
We cut him up, and took him to camp in pieces.

While not on the same plane, on my moose hunt in Newfoundland in 1996, I found out that the safety on Weatherby rifles are extremely reliable and no matter how hard you squeeze the trigger on a Weatherby trying to make the rifle go BANG on a moose at 50 yards, if the safety is on the rifle will not go bang.

SaeedWe were flying over Dar Essalam.
The river is the Luego River by our camp.
I shot an impala and we put him up for leopard bait.
In the same tree I shot a leopard out of two years ago.
Then we found some kongoi close by, in thick bush.
e could not get a shot, and they took of.
We followed hem and aw them.
We saw them across a valley, what looks miles away.
We had a bit of a laugh, and then I shot one.
Distance was 420 meters, we checked with a range finder afterwards.
We chased some kudu, but we never saw them again.
We are back in camp for lunch.
