FjoldWR Gemsbok copy ?
The guys at Tropaendienste in Windhoek told me that this was made from a cast of the world record gemsbok horns. Does anyone know where and when the WR was shot?

MD375There was an article in the Africa Sporting Gazette about the world record gemsbok some time back. The ph was Hannes Steyn. The SCI website has a picture of the cow. Hope this helps

COYOTE HUNTERI think the horns measured just over 50 inches. At one time, I believe 4 of the top 10 gemsbok came off of Hannes' ranch. I saw a photo of a bull that was taken off of his ranch that would go somewhere around number 2 if it was entered. I wanna say it was shot by a European client who didn't care about scoring. I was fortunate enough to hunt with Hannes a couple of years ago and had a wonderful time. I can't say enough positive things about him. He has some outstanding Gemsbok for sure.

GunsCoreIt was an American who shot the new WR Gemsbuck. I am embarrassed to say his name escapes me, but he is a retired airline pilot who belongs to the San Fernando Valley, Ca. SCI chapter. He was just recognized by SCI for his military service during the Vietnam War. He flew more than twenty missions over North Vietnam. I am going to find him and get some photos posted, but not till after Christmas.

jdollarI seriously doubt the animal in the picture is a cow. the horns( especially the bases) look much too thick.
