Ode to Windhoek Lager

Big Wonderful WyomingOde to Windhoek Lager
I bought a case of Windhoek lager from someone on Amazon here in Germany. The dickhead sent about 50% Tsing Hao from China and 50% Windhoek. Of course the Tsing Hao is the shit export beer of China, but it was nice to have a nice Windhoek Lager after about 13 years of not drinking one.
Sometimes happyness is just a beer away.
Windhoek Lager the best in the land
best Afrikan lager ever put in a can
drink it at night, down by the braai
but don't step on a rinkaals so you don't die
Way out in the bush out on the plains
the wind on your face the smell of the rains
up at before light and a track at day break
only thought on your mind is don't step on a snake
We work because we long for the African sunset
we pay a lot to be away and never forget
the best we can do is shoot strait
the trackers need biltong the lions the bait
So this ode to my friend the beer that I like
when I'm old I'll remember fondly my African life
day dreaming about old dugga boys and fresh tracks
no matter what I tell you I'd kill to go back

I agree that it is amazing beer but I think that Tafel(also a product of Namibia) is even better.
The German influence in Namibia adds a great deal to the experience IMO.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.
Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

ryry4Drank plenty of that two years ago when I was in Namibia. Great beer, Tafal was alright in my opinion.
On a side note, never drink Jaegermeister with Namibians!! My liver is still recovering.

Big Wonderful WyomingIt's a Lager, if you like Lager it's great beer. I don't mind one, it drank well with the baked chicken and roasted brussel sprouts tonight.
I bought a trio of German Octoberfest beers tonight. They will probably be gone on Monday. I also bought a couple Dunkels.
I can buy a case of 500 ml bottles for E7-15 for damn near 99% of the beer in Germany.
Little American style bottles are half that.
I remember a case of micro-brew anything in America was about $20ish plus for 180-250ml bottles. Something exotic non-micro like Tusker, Windhoek or Tafel was probably the same if not three times as much.

JaglavWhen in Namibia, or Germany, Underberg is definitely a good choice of beverage.

A.DahlgrenOne big plus to our government that have monopoly on alcoholic beverages in Sweden is that we can order about anything thats been produced. Getting Tusker, Windhoek lager etc etc is no problem at all

Bud MeadowsTafel Lager and Windhoek Lager are brewed by the same company: Namibian Breweries Ltd. I'm a Tafel man myself

matt salmWhile in Germany, try Karmaleiten, the Dunkel and Kloster Gold are phenomenal. Had a local pilot importing it here for a few years and it was some of the best beer I've had.
Shoot straight, shoot often.

Are you sure it wasn't Belgian?
That is the only one I can find.
It is a Trappist (monk brewed beer).
I am not very fond of Belgian trappist, many people claim they are the best beers in the world.
I think they are really expensive because they are rare, not because they are good.
Some of the best beers in the world come from the bigger brew houses in Bavaria. Quality is generally higher, as the testing on the beer is really tough.
I like Dunkels as well, several of the Bavarian Dunkels are absoute favorites.

1BigDeerI haven't had the Windhoek Export, but I greatly prefer Windhoek Draught over Windhoek Lager. Just wish it were available in the States! Erdinger weissbier is pretty good too.
Both the Draught and Lager available here in Australia!
