Miscellaneous Trophies
I know different people have different mindsets, but why in the world would someone pay hundreds of dollars to kill:

Vervet monkeys
Honey badgers
Aardvarks
Ostriches
Baboons (I could see killing them as a public service but not to pay money for it).

You get the picture.

Just wondering.

Some of those "trophies" make interesting and unusual additions to a game room.

I agree with baboons
Would love to shoot some but every time I’m told few hundred bucks I refuse
Jesus, to me that is a favor to Africa to shoot few

When i have seen Honey badgers i have not had the permits/licenses.. When i have the permits/licenses in hand, i have not seen one.

Yes "Honey Badger" is on my list of animals to get.

I don’t have any of those animals in my trophy room, but I agree with Biebs, and I see no problem with it if a hunter wants to pursue them, and if they are legal to hunt.

My ostrich and the huge piece of Ostrich leather was pretty cool, as well as all the feathers I brought back. The trophy pic was awesome. Baboon skulls on your desk would be great. I haven't been able to connect but I'd pay $100 to kill a few. To each their own I guess

Why would you pay $100K to shoot a lion you can't or won't eat?? Be happy for those who are able to and realize the "trophy" may be personal, not representative. Trophies are a reminder of safari (to me.)

I have collected a few oddments over the years. The civet is a beautiful creature. My ant bear gives me a chuckle and is certainly a conversation starter. One can be a collector as well as a trophy hunter.

I've taken 5 baboons. The skulls are fantastic trophies.

I have to agree with Ann. Here are three Euro Mounts of Baboons I've shot hunting with Sebra Hunting Safaris:

Very nice interesting mounts.

Same goes with paying to shoot prairie
dogs. Amazing what some folks will do.

I've got a tanned full skin baboon in storage. Can't afford to get him mounted but maybe someday! Truly a unique animal.

Love shooting baboons especially with big bores. Most expensive trophy fee I have seen is $50 for them. Then when i usually shoot a dozen or so on a trip they usually only charge for a 1 or 2.

Baboons are my favorite big game animal in Africa.

Skulls are really cool.

Vervets are a good time as well.

I shot a baboon for free. His scull make an interesting display. The honey badger is at the taxidermist being made into a life size mount.

.

Ostrich was not an easy hunt - 2 hours tracking, chasing and after them. Great eyesight and boy can they run. Finally took a male in full breeding pink! Great meat, great mount and a challenging hunt if done properly.

Badger is right up high on my list ! An awesome animal and tough as nails!

Baboons too can be a challenge and I am waiting for the right one to mount for the trophy room.

Porcupine I'll add to the list. They say they make great eating. I'll believe them. Quills are awesome and they make a conversation piece mount too.

Vervet monkey - thanks I'll pass.

I have some "different" trophies from Africa that I really enjoy: Rock dassie, bat eared fox, jackal, genet, several geese and ducks, pied crow, porcupine, spring hare, cape fox, bush pig, serval, etc. I find that they add a lot to my collection. I also have some very a-typical antelope that I really like as well.

To be honest my pursuit is what we consider as game animals and I have no interest in night hunting for the nocturnal species. To be honest I rather be around the bar sharing a good bottle of whiskey or alternatively tucked into bed.

But each to their own

$1k for a lion? I would love to get that kind of deal.

As for tuskless elephants, hunting DG is about the potential danger creating an adrenaline rush.

Although it may be challenging, I've never had the urge to kill woodchucks, marmots, or prairie dogs (or chipmunks for that matter).

I do agree, that what is a beautiful, trophy to some, is just plain ugly to others.

As for neat looking skulls, Javelinas are very impressive and fairly cheap to hunt.
