This is a great example of the irresponsible conduct of so many photo tourism operators. No firearm for protection and pushing the envelope on getting too close to dangerous game.

Folks,

Gee! Something must be wrong with that particular elephant. Elephants are just big, gentle and placid animal. Right? That women was so lucky. Not many survive a full blow attempt by an elephant to kill them.

When we were in the Okavango the guide wanted to take us into a little open pool with 3 hippos in it and only one way in or out. We loudly declined that option.

Darwin theory at work. For the guide service to have pole powered boats that close to a herd with (and i guess the big problem was the small babies.) They get real protective. the woman is lucky. Had they been on dry ground where the cow could put more pressure on her, she would have been a red blob. I just got back from shooting 3 tuskless and we virtually got charged every time. I have now shot 11 elephants over 20 years, but never cows, and I really think this can be one of Africas most dangerous hunts.

We have taken tourist trips in several African countries.

Tour guides, and especially, for some reason, those operating in Botswana, have sometimes been utterly reckless.

We have had to tell them to back off more than a few times.

A couple of the guides we've had in Chobe and Okavango in particular have been borderline nuts around elephants.

The arrogant stupidity of the so-called GUIDES is just... I cannot understand. That woman was 2 stomps away from being a bloody pool of crocodile dinner.
I wonder how many other tourists present will recommend this outfit?
