Also, there is talk of a potential 100 lbs elephant shot this week by a friend of mine . . . . 5.5 feet sticking out, 19 inches at lip, and heavy all through the tusk. If the nerve is not too big, he may have a shot.
Will, the fellow who shot this tremendous bull wouldn't go by the initials B.P. Jr. would he? I just saw pictures yesterday of his huge Botswana bull. I was told heaviest tusk went 97+, but the right tusk was broken off and weighed something like 65. It was a grand bull, and I hope his father was along on the hunt. Gonna call his dad today to get details.

Buzz CharltonWell done Russ- one hell of a bull. Its official weights are 81 and 72 lbs aside as i looked at the ivory after it was stamped. Still am amazing ele shot 3 days before we started on a quota transfer!!!! I got a 65lbs after looking at 106 bulls- fantastic ele bull but with all the monsters lately I had hoped for better!!!!!!! Russ BHi Buzz
Well thank you and well done on your Elephant.
I hope the weight of your tusks was not based on camp scale which weighed out at 90 and 83. Seems Parks scale weighs less by like 9 lbs nevertheless my client was very pleased either way.

Buzz CharltonHi Russ
No mine like yours were weighed at national parks main camp! Our ele was a beauty 195 cm- very un wankie like ivory. It was actually a bull that was in the same 7 that you shot out of Russ( 6 when we followed them!) I turned him down on the 4th day and killed him on the 11 day 100 meters from where you got your 80lbs!! All beautiful eles!!!

larryshoresFirst, very nice bull. The weight comments are interesting. I got a shipment of my tusks last year. I was extremely surprised at the weight on the papers. The weight was about 10 pounds per tusk LESS than what I had them weighed at here.
I have several sets of tusks. When I look at the weight on the paper work and look at the tusks, the official weight make no sense.

Russ BHi Buzz
Yes I saw that Askari my client turned him down as I was skeptical as to his weight awfully thin but pretty ivory.
Well done though

Russ BYes Larry I think that some of the scales under weigh a little.

Bit of an understatement I'd say - quite a difference between 96.8 and 81....

After 32 years in this business nothing surprises me nevertheless we are happy with the outcome whichever scales are used.
