Hugh WOutstanding Hunt with Brian Van Blerk / Lobo /T. Bundu
Hi Folks!
Just got back late last night from Masailand. Hunted with Adam Clement's Tanzania Bundu Safaris. Brian Van Blerk was my PH in the Lobo Concession. Had an outstanding hunt! Just a quick note for now, a full hunt report later, after I am less jet lagged and have my honey do list and desk a little less messy.
Hunted ten days with Brian and got my three primary objectives, which were: Good Masailand Buff (43"), Good Grant's Gazelle (26") and Good Zebra Stallion with no shadow stripes and few scars. If I had done my part, I would have also had a 26-27" impala. More on that later.
The only downside to the trip was Delta Airlines; which lost my bags both going and returning!

At least they were consistent!
Congratulations on a great hunt, and we look forward to pictures and details when you have time.

Hugh WDB Bill,
Thanks for helping with the post. Greatly appreciate the help. Yes there was plenty of smoke because of plenty fires. There was one fire of close to 2000 acres in size while I was there. Every one is throwing matches there right now (masai, game scouts, etc.) because the grass is almost totally browned out. The buffalo that I shot had a stomache full of fresh green shoots and lots of black from the ash in the burnt over areas. It was obvious that he was grazing all night in the burnt over areas.

bwanamrmFantastic buff, Hugh. It has that classic East African drop to his horns...he's a beaut! Damn nice Grant's too. Congratulations!

MHC_TXHugh,
Congratulations on some "fine" trophies. My wife & I hunted with Brian (PH) and Albert (tracker - saw him with your buffalo) last fall in Tanzania. I too, really enjoyed hunting with him. I'm going to hunt with him again in 2007 in Lobo (through Adam Clements) - can't wait. Did Charlie (tracker) hunt with you too?

Hugh WGuys,
Thanks for the compliments. It was a blast and a great hunt. I promise to at least finish a written hunt report today. And I have lots of pics, the camps, the team, the animals available that I did not hunt, the masai people and their culture, etc.
Our hunt team consisted of Brian Van Blerk PH.
Albert, Brian's tracker who has worked for Brian for almost six years now. Doto, Adam Clements' tracker, and Richard Rauch, a videographer that is working on a promotional video/DVD for Adam. Rich has his asst. PH certificate from ZImbabwe. I told him that he needs to complete the PH course.

snowymthunterHugh- Thanks a million for posting these great pictures and congrats on your hunt. I look forward to reading more stories about your trip. My partner and I are heading to Lobo in December 06 with Adam, but that seems so far away. For now, I'll have to rely on your stories and pictures to get me through. Any tips or pointers you have for us Lobo-bound hunters would be appreciated. Thanks again.

new_guyThat is an EXCEPTIONAL buffalo! Love the drop in the horns, and he has a great boss too.
You'll hunt a lot of days "bettering" that one.
