Re: new rifle for first African hunt
I had a Remington 700, .375 H & H, that shot patterns, not groups. I picked up a CZ .375 H & H. I was great. Regardle4ss which ever rifle you pick, sight it in, then shoot off of shooting sticks and off hand. Practice, practice, and practice some more! I used Hornady bullets for practice, then switched to 300 grain Swift A Frames for my hunt. Three of us that hunted, used a total of 17 lbs. of powder in practice before hunting. Once in the field we used less than 40 rounds for the 23 animals we shot. The PH was really happy with all the ammo we left behind. Again, practice.

After seeing the rifle & ammo my PH acrried on my Moz. buff hunt, I am glad I had my M70//.404 CRF w/ well tested loads. In a bad situation, I only want to have to depend on myself.

kbobb,

I am a firm believer it is your money and you spend it on what you personally feel will like...There are many here who go to Africa with 700Rems in African grade and there are many here who also use CRF's...Pick what you like and work out all the bugs and get proficient with the rifle of your choice...
