30.06kingZimbabwe Export Permit cost
I have been informed today by a Zim expediter that the cost of an export permit for animals ( trophies ) is a 2% tax calculated on the value of the trophy fees. So, $10,000.00 in trophy fees = $200.00 cost for the export permit. This charge is separate to the fee for dip & pack.
Just wanting to ask guys with Zim experience if this is now standard procedure ? It's just that when I made cost enquiries earlier this was not mentioned, and looks to be another cost to be allowed for.
Its been standard on my last 4 trips to ZIM.
Check out the hunts offered by the Zim guys on this forum and you will see the 2% and 4% shown clearly.
cheers
Nick

30.06kingHi Nick,
Appreciate the comment.
I understand in Zim that a 4% Govt Levy is added to trophy fees. Example, Buff trophy fee $ 5000.00, plus 4% levy $200.00, so total $5200.00
Likewise, Daily Rates have 2% levy added to the basic rate. I have made hunt payments on this basis and I presume these are the 2% and 4% you refer to. And I agree, these are regularly shown with outfitters prices.
I made separate enquiries about trophy expediting and was surprised to be told about a 2% tax on the trophy fees value ( paid in addition to the above levies ) to calculate the export permit cost. I could be mistaken but don't recall seeing any reference to this on AR. Hence my question whether this is standard procedure.

MARK H. YOUNG30.06 king,
I have several hunters booked with a couple of different outfits in Zimbabwe and I've heard nothing about an extra 2%.
