World record tusks
Hi guys
just got back from Africa via London and whilst there I called into the Museum of Natural History which I had heard housed the largest tusks of all time.(they were taken by an Arab trader in 1898)Luckily they happened to be on display in the mammal section along with full mounts of every game animal in Africa, including elephant, quite amazing.
For those who havnt seen this display and are in a position to do so please dont miss it,you wont regret one minute.Oh and here is the bonus, unlike most things in London its free!

i have been told these tusks were taken by poacher who killed the elephant with a bolt in a blunderbust muzzle loader?

Thanks for the pic.

Mink and Wall Tents don't go together. Especially when you are sleeping in the Wall Tent.

I was there this time last year visiting my son Matt while he was working in London...
In the main room of the museum there was a wall mounted bust of Courtney Selous...

In answer to the question from GeorgeS,yes I did take some photos but I have to reluctantly admit to being fairly computer illiterate and am not sure how to post them.
As with a lot of pictures mine do not really convey the enormity of these tusks due to the distance at which they were taken and lack of a close up reference point,ie me actually standing right next to them.
