Picking up on comments in other threads and Given COVID the likes of SCI, the Game Fair, IWA, Jagd & Hund are no longer possible.

But what about a virtual event.

In my profession we used to run a series of investment seminars where growing companies would pitch to investors and then have one to one converstaions. It was felt by all that face to face was really important.

And then we could not do it. Instead we now have a series of virtual seminars and we have found they work really well. Nobody has to travel, you get goid exchange of information, good initial contact is made and then all the follow up happens.

What about organising Virtual Hunting Conventions - you could have a whole series of topics from Rifles, to different outfitters, to the perfect bullet and of course a campfire for individuals to tell the biggest bullshit stories ever )

No wont be as fun as taking a trip to Germany to go to jagd & Hund and meeting up with old friends but it could at least get the juices flowing for post CoVid world.

I think a virtual convention would work with some things and not others. For example, I need to fondle (my wife’s term) for a while before I decide to buy it. The more expensive the rifle the more I need to examine it.

For booking a hunt with a known outfit that I could do virtually.

For the commerce end of it, I’d think virtual works, especially if you can arrange to meet if it is a serious conversation.

Most of the convention for me is meeting people that I had no idea existed and getting together with friends who have like interests.

Having everything together makes for a more efficient process for both buyer and seller.

Personally, if it’s virtual, I have no need for it. I can search for what I’m looking for and talk to operators remotely now without a convention- no value added for me by a virtual convention.
