Re: Saeeds 375/404
smallfry: I have had my .378 for about 8 years or so and I love it. I bought a barreled action from Weatherby and put it on an H-S Precision stock and I put a Leupold 1.75-6 on that set up. I love it. It is heavy and, as you know, that long barrel can get in the way in heavy brush. But it has always been a pleasure to shoot and it is a very accurate rifle. I have shot more than a few caribou with it on trips hoping to shoot a brown bear and it has been on spring bear hunts when it was never shot and it has been on Afognak and Kodiak islands (chasing elk and deer) where it was never shot. I took it to RSA in 2001 and shot a bunch antelope and a zebra with it. It is starting to get beat up running around Alaska. I do not think you can go wrong with a .378.

I still like Saeed's .375/404. I wonder if Remington stole Saeed's .375/404 wildcat and turned it into the .375RUM...

rwj... yes I agree I dont think a guy can go to wrong with a 378wby. I want to build a new one on a chop job (24")a bit lighter... I doubt you would see a big diff in velo, and there are plenty of powders to make up a small difference anyways. Saeeds 375/404 is one of the most sensiable cartridges going as far as wildcats are concerned. IMO, and can be had in a 375 length action.
