Sory - It is a video from You tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuF-HE7zFos&feature=related :

1. Aim (ele is on the slope - bit quartering - facing right)

2. Shot

3. Hit (looks like side brain - quartering - hind legs colapse first...)

4. Elephant start to roll down the slope allmost crushing another elephant standing on the slope beneath:

Krieghoff with what looks like a Maglite rubber tube for the permanent muzzle carry w/o rubbing the bluing off. Good shot, assuming its dead and not just knocked out.

Looks like he shot the left barrel first if I look at the second photo correctly (the cocking indicator on the left barrel in depressed.)

Do you think it is a Kreighoff? I thought Heym.

Paul - you are correct. It is a HEYM 500 NE 3.25". (good eye on the cocking indicator thumb).

That is a neoprene sleeve on the barrels. Although it's out on the end of the barrels in the video, I assume he uses them as hand-guards. He hunts a lot of elephant.

They do, but they are on the sides of the action. The HEYM's are on top, in your line of sight.

Good catch Paul! You are absolutely correct he did fire the left barrel first!

There is no question the shot was good, for the distance, it looks like a brain shot, but could have been a right shoulder or hip letting the ele fall into the canyon. If it was a brain shot, he certainly has something to bragg about! thumb

That was a great shot...hard to tell the distance but it wasn't real close...50 yards maybe? If that wasn't a head shot then that elephant is hurt pretty bad and the fall didn't help it. Eeker

Who is the hunter?
