AglifterBolt-action 410 for practice?
I'm getting a 410 lever action put together, to be identical to my 45-70 is use for most of my hunting -- that way I can shoot sporting clays, etc, as practice on moving targets, in a gun with the same action, sights, balance, etc.
Is is possible to do a similar thing in a bolt action? Seems like it'd be an ideal way to practice with a heavy bolt action.

NitroXI like a lot of young shooters started shooting a .410. You would be at a big disadvantage at sporting clays with one compared to a 12g. But for practice for your .45/70 it sounds like not a bad idea.
I've seen SMLE's converted to .410s.

HunterJimAglifter,
In another life I worked on some batle simulation projects, the finding were that you don't have to be that close in order for the training to transfer to the real world. Or I should say here you don't have to get your .410 to be identical to your .45-70. Close is good enough.
I have a friend who uses a 20 ga SXS shooting slugs as practice for his double rifle. He had teh SXS modify to handle like the double rifle.
