Like father like son?

fairgameLike father like son?
It has always been my wish that one of my boys take over the reigns in my business but first they must seek a qualification. Young Ryan is going to Plattsburgh in the New York region to study environmental sciences and it is his want to return to the wild lands of the Kafue.
My first couple of hunts here was difficult for me and I had to let Ryan take over many of the responsibilities - some mundane such as camp building, management etc and some exciting such as helping out with the hunting and decision making on safari.
I have been really impressed and he has two more safaris to put under his belt before I send him over the pond. Ironically I myself have never been to the States.
If any members on the east coast would care to extend a hand to my boy if he at all he gets into trouble I would be most appreciative. He can be contacted by email ryanbaldry@hotmail.co.uk
He will also be looking for a job outside of term if any here is looking for a hard working and very amusing lad.
My other son Tom is also a likely lad but is still at school. Here is a photo of him doing some homework.

bwanamrmI am a long way from New York Andrew but if he ever finds himself in south Texas he is welcome in my home anytime.
On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Andrew,
That is a beautiful part of our country. Your son should get to experience four different seasons. If he likes winter sports he is in a good place. He should have lots of different hunting opportunities, fishing too!
I lived in NY for several years, the southern Tier/Finger lakes region, southwest of where your son will be.
This should be a great learning experience!

Ackley Improved UserAndrew,
You know where I live.
Have your boy(s)(or you and wife) give Jeanne and me a call, if they'll be in the area.
We'll show them around.
Regards, Noel

dinsdaleAttending SUNY Plattsburg or the relative nearby Paul Smith's?
Either way if he's keen on fishing there's plenty of places to wet a line.
If he brings somekind of hunting training certificate or basic licence he can get a NY Hunting license (or sit through our mandatory class )..... No points or draws here, can hunt Deer and Bear anywhere in the state in general (with a few quirks depending on specific management area).
LOTS of public land to poke around on up that way....

shootawayPlattsburgh New York-that is Adirondack country-very scenic. We used to drive by there going south for family summer vacations. It is about an hours drive from Montreal. The 87 highway runs through it.It was once named Americas most scenic highway. It was really something driving through there at night in the mid to late seventies. The memory of the scent of those evergreen trees has stayed with me from back then.

Hope you have a great stay in the states. AND hope you don't spend it all in NY. Make some plans to see more of the country. Come out to Colorado and see what real mountains look like. IF in Oct, Nov maybe partake in an elk hunt. IF you do and need a rifle, I'm offering a choice of mine to do it with.
Best to you,
George
