N'gagiSecond Rifle for Zambezi
Last time I took my .Brno .458 and my Mod70 .375, but I was thinking about taking my Ruger .300 WM this time as a second gun. It should be fine for any plains game I might decide on, and should be hell on the baboons.
HOWEVER, if for some bizarre reason I had a problem with my .458 I'd be screwed as far as an elephant gun, or any DG for that matter.
What would you do?

Don EdwardsTake the .375 and avail yourself of the many options for smaller bullets/light loads one can have by handloading. Also, if you have the capability(or know someone who does) consider some mild cast bullet loads. The versatility of the .375 makes it the obvious choice if you, or someone you know handloads.
Cheers,
Don

Mark,
I'd definetly take the 375 just in case you have a DG opportunity when your out with your light rifle. Better yet, buy one of the 9.3x74R double rifles that are currently in the classifieds!

MARK H. YOUNGMark,
I'm definitely starting to lean toward the 375 or the new 373 as the light rifle when the big guys are on the menu. The 375 is not too much for anything and it can fill in handily for your 458 if it crappped out.

Use Enough GunTake the .375. Shooting plains game, large and small with it, becomes second nature. Then if you have a problem with the other big gun you won't be cussing yourself.
