What is the PH's opinion on the Muaser Mod. M03?
My question is: what do the professionals think about the Mauser M03 – any experiences
With this rifle in cal. .458 Lott?

HJ,
A ph I hunted with last year had one in a .300 win and .404 jeff. He seemed to like them. I wish I had looked a little closer at them.

The MO3???

He must be doing well then....or have a second job.

I handled one at a Game Fair in Britain....handled fantastic. Shot one in 9.3x62 last year in Sweden when hunting wild boar. Only had two shots with it. One on a target, and another on the pig. Both were good experiences...

Here is a good overview of the Mauser 03 that Hans wrote for African Expedition Magazine.

They are too new and too expensive to see many in Working PH's hands. I have tried one in .375 H&H and one in 9,3. Nice rifles that felt good but a bit too heavy for my personal liking.

If you are going to spend that kind of money on a new one most PH's would rather save a little more and pick up a double. When you start seeing them on the second hand market you will see them in PH's hands- unless they are left as tips by very happy clients!
