Larry SellersReno weather
Just received this update on the expected weather in Reno, NV for the upcoming SCI Convention there. Expected highs for: Tues. 57; Wed. 56; Thurs: 57; Friday: 55; Sat. 53 with 0 % chance for precip. Packing my shorts and short sleeves shirts, sounds like Springtime. Pools open!! At leaset in the Hotel.

Can't help the little dig, no offense meant, but seems the weather will be a lot nicer in Reno than Dallas and Atlanta were?? This has been the norm now for at least three years. Just remember some folks complaing here as the reason they don't like Reno, is the bad weather.

And besides here in the West if it's cold, it's a dry cold.

larryshoresHe also apparently forgets the years the airport was closed because of weather . I got severely delayed because of weather when I left last year on Thursday.

LionHunterI've only missed one SCI convention in over 15 years. Always fly to/from Reno. Never had a single weather delay in or out of Reno.

Does this mean hot coffee when it's cold and cold beer when it's warm?

I've attended every SCI convention since 1983. That's 28 years. Some of those shows were in Las Vegas, of course, but most were in Reno and I never had a single weather delay in or out of Reno.
Incidentally, Larry, the temps you mentioned are what we consider severe winter weather here in Tucson.

338zmagIt was 75 here in Florida today. I'll go to the show next year, but not when it is in Reno. The weather isn't the only issue (it's a major one). Too many flights to get there if I fly out of Traverse City, Mich.
One year when I checked I would have had to fly to Chicago then to San Fran then to Reno. Another time it was TC to Chicago to San Fran to Vegas then Reno. No way. Easy trip if you're in CA. Have fun boys.

Larry SellersBill - I know, Iknow you Arizona folks are just spoiled when it gets this time of year.

I'm at 8500 ft here in NM, so high 50's in January are something to look forward to. See you Thursday at the Seminar.
I have also attended SCI for the last 15 years or so and have never had a weather delay anytime during that timeframe.
Jb - you are right about the lows being in the high 20's low 30's at night but that really just lasts for a few hours. As soon as the sun pops up, the temps climb really quick. Besides, we are never out during the night, always in a casino, bar, eating establisment or casino bar or asleep so don't really notice the cold under any of the above circumstances.

Let's see last time I went to Africa, it involved (5) flights just to get there, so wouldn't really think the fact it wasn't non stop to Reno should be toooo much of a convience
to someone really interested in going?

Beats driving by the way!!
See ya all next week. I'll be the one with sunscreen, beachwear and sandals.

RBHuntGot to admit, it was cold in Dallas this year and last, but I still remember back when snow was piled 8 foot deep beside the road in Reno for SCI. Next year in LV should be great as far as weather. I was really impressed with all of the AR folks at DSC this year, and the hospitality DSC showed. DSC is really getting big; my first thought when I walked in the first day was - this looks like SCI.

Idaho SharpshooterJust for that, when I get to the city limits, I am putting the top down on the car and cruising in.
