Giraffe-Which Bullet with a 338/378?
JTHunt,

I'm coming around to that view.

I think I shall use the North Forks on all the other game, and reserve a monometal soft ie; a TSX or GS HV with solids behind. Or even a solid first!!

I'm also waiting on advice from my PH, Mike Kibble who is currently hunting in his Kalahari concession.......

Good thinking above, Blair.

Having said solids only, I am 95% sure a barnes TSX would do the job, they are a very good bullet.

But solids are near as dammit 100%.

As per Jaco Human above also study the anatomy. Unlike almost all game the giraffe's heart and lungs are high and forward (almost entirely covered by the shoulder bone), making it imperative that you can shoot reliably through that heavy bone.

I am willing to bet Mike Kibble will concur.

Good luck and enjoy the trip, Namibia is a GREAT hunting country.

I had a copy of the Perfect Shot, but gave it to a friend. I have another copy on order!!! But I do recall that a Giraffe is an anatomical anomaly, with the placement of it's heart and lungs.

Thanks again for the advice, it is appreciated!

Cheers mate,

Another thing for guys taking a non-hunting wife along. You may want to find something else for her to do on that day as they do not die quickly. I guess it takes time for the brain to realize they are dead. Thy do not flail around or anything. They cannot get back up but they are still breathing. Watch the head and legs when they give up the ghost. They may sling neck or kick when they expire. Can get a leg broken
