I have,in the past, used a 9.3X62 CZ with 250 gr North Forks with excellent results. Several shots were at 225yds (Impala) and shot through most of the ten or so animals taken, including Zebra, Waterbuck,Red Hartebeest, and Kudu. I would think this bullet would work fine in 9.3X74 as well.

I will have to agree with NE450. I have a 9.3X74R in a Ruger #1 and the partition does little dammage, I havent wrote it off yet, but so far on hogs it pin pricks them, and even the internal damage is slight, my velocity might be to low, 2330~ fps. The WDLY round nose has worked for me. The pointed version might give a little more penetration. What plains game are you hunting?

NE if you can get them to work you will have a real sledgehammer there, I would love to know how they perform on pigs. The speer is oftem criticised as being to soft but if people use it for the job it was meant for it would be fine. I think for pigs the speer 270 would be more than adequate. Woodleigh's new 286 gr PP interests me as well.

Plains game list this trip is: Blesbok Common, Gemsbok, Impala, Kudu Southern, Warthog, Wildebeest Blue.

Have about decided to use the 286 gr Woodleigh RN. Have found two listings for max cartidge length. Speer manual lists 3.665" and the AR manual lists 3.720". Even at 3.780" the projectile doesn't seem to hit the rifling in the Chapuis. Thought I'd try the longer length first and see what happens.

The other rifle is a .338 Win Mag pre-64 M70 so there are two good choices.

Anyone know if a sling swivel that can be mounted in the front bolt of the trigger housing on the M70 as was with a short sling done around the turn of the century by the English in Africa? Can use all the stability I can get!

I have been using the 320 gr. Woodleigh RN for many years in the 9.3x62 at about 2350 FPS and it has performed admirably...It stabalizes fine in the 9.3x62s 1x14 inch twists.......It is certainly a killer of Cape Buffalo, about like a 375 as far as I can tell....

I have thought about the 320gr Woodleighs, both soft and solid. I was afraid they might not stabilize and/or not have enough velocity for adequate expansion of the soft.
I have a few loaded by Superior that I may try to shoot some pigs with. The 286grain bullets have performed very good.
But I do like heavy bullets and high SD's.

I would use the round nose Woodleigh, as I think it will expand better at 9,3x74R velocities. I plan to use it in my Chapuis in Zim in June.

I wonder if the 320 woodleigh would regulate in your rifle, that is what I would use if I owned that fine bit of equipment.
