Brain1need help with trophy judging forest buf
I am going to Cameroun next year and top of my list is forrest buffalo. Anybody here know where I can find reference material to help me judge trophy quality? This is a self guided hunt but even if it wasn't I want to have an idea what is and what ain't a trophy.

Wendell ReichI would venture a guess that any Buffalo you take is a damn sho' 'nuff true trophy!
But, if it were me, I would google Forest Buffalo Hunting and see what other operators take.

NavalukMost (90%) +/- of hunters shoot the first adult they see. Take a look at outfitters pictures such as Mayo Oldiris site. You will see bull v. Cow. I hunted them 13 straight days in the very SE corner of Cameroon, and could have killed a couple cows including one that made 3 determined runs at us as we ran like school girls. I choose not to kill a female or young bull and consequently I got to hunt them all 13 days because I never pulled the trigger. More hunting and less taxidermy cost. I think we ran from something every day of that hunt, forest Elephant, Buffalo, and those damn gorillas who were the worst. One of the very few hunts I would definitely do again.

Spoken like a true hunter. People who don't hunt wouldn't quite understand this statement.

ivan carteri am here on my first forrest hunt - we have been hunting buffalo- phs here judge the track forst , they only follow single bulls and shoot what the dogs bay and hope for the best , 90% of the time the forrest is so very thick you will not see the head for love or money - i am sure that there are lots of scenarios and people whose experiences are different to this but thats what i gather from hunting here with two very seasoned forrest PHs ..
hope that this helps ,
thanks
