ScottSExpansion question?
Has anyone recovered any Woodleigh 0.411" diameter, 400gr SN bullets that were fired with a muzzle velocity ~ 2100 fps? If so I would appreciate information on what the expanded diameter(s) was, and the range to the target.
Thanks.

Woodrow SYes, I would like to see that too, so I know what to expect out of a 450/400 NE in a Ruger #1.

IndlovuFinally got to fire 2 rounds into dry sand at 25 yards: Load RL 15 75 gr, velocity 2120 and 2091 FPS. Found only one bullet, retained weight 381 gr, diameter approcimately .8". was mushromed quite a bit, and flattened.
bullet: woodleigh 400 gr, .423 diameter.
Now I have to clean the damn rifle!

AtkinsonIf you will email me I will send you some pictures of that bullet fired into buffalo. I think they are .411 but could be .408 as I had two 450-400s and both bore diameters. I will have to check my loading books and see about that. Either way the result would be the same. At any rate they performed beautifully like all Woodleighs do and expanded to about 50 caliber(guess) can measure and have those ragged cutting edges that make Woodleihs so deadly..
I have used Woodliehs for many years and never have I had a failure.
