Record Buff from the past

Lake Manyara world record cow buff of 64 inches was taken in 1949 By PH Clary Palmer Wilson with his mexican client. The picture is from the 1949 Tanganyika game Department's yearly report.

Is that the mount John Sharp has or had? He had one in his house in 2014 and was trying to sell it.

Very cool, Andrew. Thanks for sharing. Lake Manyara is a special place and home to some very special buffalo. Still to this day.

Great picture. Never hunted in a time and place where cows were legal. I've seen some wide cows, but nothing like that. I have a 41+ bull that everyone mistakes for a cow. Literally no bosses. Shot him for bait. Buffalo are all different and that is what makes them interesting, even aside from the hunt.

Mr. Palmer-Wilson is the father of Mike Branham who was my professional in Tanzania in 1999 with Tanzania Game Trackers.

I haven't seen Mike in some time but he is a super guy and great PH.

And yes, Manyara NP is a special place- tremendous diversity of habitat as you descend the rift escarpment, and most importantly- lots of big buffalo!
