Sable Question
Mike and Mike,

I have heard the same in northern Moz. I think the folks at the Niassa Reserve have done some blood work, and everyone up there considers the sable Roosevelt's, but they aren't "Officially".

I am told that genetic testing has proven that the sable in northern Mozambique are indeed of the Roosevelt variety.

Not surprising given the natural corridor that connects Niassa to the Selous.

I would have thought as much seeing the two regions are only separated by a river which can be easily forded most of the time.

The Roosevelt Sable also extends its territory north of Tanzania into Kenya but the species is limited to the coastal belt.
