Full RoarWhat I would like to know ....how in the world did those two baboons get clothes on and who gave them clothes to begin with? To top it all off the Baboon in the middle even has a hat on. Didn't know Baboons were sun sensitive.
I have always understood Baboons to be very clever, I will be more attentive next time I am in Africa
15 July 2013, 23:22
Wendell ReichOk. I'm stumped.
Which one are you again?

prof242K,
And we appreciate the whiskey! (for the rest of you if you haven't had a chance, see him at DSC about 11am each day). Just a thought, will the real baboon be at your site this year?

Cheeky looking buggers!

JohnDLYou didn't have to shoot the baboon---he'd have died of embarrassment.
20 July 2013, 04:39
Maximus BrutusSorry to go against the grain here, but I don't think this is a very tasteful photo. There's nothing worse than ridiculing a dead animal and we should be above that.
20 July 2013, 05:48
M. ShellmanI have hunted for over 60 years, around the world, including 11 times in Africa. This photograph is disgusting and an insult to anyone who hunts ethically and who has respect for God's creatures. This baboon deserved better. Anybody who thinks this is funny is a sick piece of dung. Where is the story about blasting him out of tree, over dogs, from 50 yards? How did your bullet perform? By the way, did the baboon look up at you in death, almost human like, and reach for you with its hands?
It is not the ethical taking of one of Gods animals that makes most people not understand hunting and be opposed to it. It is stupid
huntersthat make it seem to others as barbaric. And cruel, eh?
I can't stand stuff like this. In fact, I have had enough of this forum. Whatever you men do, keep this kind of crap among yourselves. Somehow I know you will.
20 July 2013, 12:55
Fallow BuckMB,
to be fair to the baboon , I think it was me getting ridiculed in the above posts.
Either way I was very pleased to have finally shot my first two baboons and will be getting him mounted, in fact he will have a pride of place in my office. He will NOT be holding a beer or a toilet roll...

M. Shellman: Don't let the door hit you in the arse. The original poster is making fun of himself not the animal. You're a smug supercillious jerk and good riddance to you.

20 July 2013, 21:34
SteveGlThat's the problem. He may, in fact, have been making fun of himself - but it's still disrespectful of the animal, and still reinforces the image of hunters as beng an ignorant lot, which, unfortunately, is all too often the case.
We are our own worst enemies in the global PR campaign against hunting.
Stick around Shellman. AR needs you ... (Max Brutus too).

Bud, I don't know you, but your post is pretty abusive and doesn't paint you in a good light. If you disagree with M. Shellman, a fellow hunter, at least have the decency to be polite about it.
