Jeff AlexanderPlaying Chicken with a Buffalo
I'm reading "Trophy Hunter in Africa" by Elgin T. Gates (A former Weatherby Big GameTrophy winner). In it, he writes that he and PH Jack Blacklaws played chicken with each other with a couple of buffs.
It seems that they got them to charge (shades of MS?) and the first person that fired his gun was chicken. Gates lost the first time and the second time was a draw at at 10 feet! They got most of it on film too.
What do you think?

analog_peninsulaWhat a great idea! You could beat everyone by just refusing to shoot ...

DPhillipsI read that as well. Weren't they culling buff with rinderpest? Seems if I remember right, the rinderpest buff were ill dispositioned and prone to charging without further enticement. None of the buff were wounded into charging, just the men would position themselves so the buff could get a good look at them and charge.
At least that is how I remember the story going.

If they both "won" too, everyone else would have won too.
I think this is appropriate for the book's passage =

PS They used .45/70 Marlins too.
