Another legend pass on
Mauritz Coetzee, well known for his knowledge on rifles and reloading passed on yesterday, apparently from a heart attack. He was a founder member of BASA and was very active in the reloading association. He was a friendly helpful person with lots of knowledge. Last I saw him he was busy with a client at Zimbi books and we only had time for a handshake and a few quick words.

You will be remembered and missed RIP.

Our condolences to his family

A great loss, Mauritz always had time for a handshake and a cup of coffee.
He was extremely knowledgable about ballistics and was always willing to share his knowledge with a humility that was unbelievable.
He had a vast library of published AND personal research work.
For our local propellants we only have a few common calibres with published load data, whenever you bought something new you could phone Mauritz and he would recite from memory a load he had helped somebody develop. That evening your phone would ring and he would confirm the load after he had checked his notes.
To quote from a translated poem: 'Silence brothers! There goes a MAN.'

Met him in 2001. PH Pieter Diedricks took us by to inquire about .375 Wby loadings with RHINO bullets. We left a camera behind and had to get it shipped over along with bullets from the Pretoria store. A second trip in 2007 had him arranging a copy of "Nyati" for us. Great guy!

RIP Mauritz
As long as it's quick, death is bearable
