Can any one tell me what floating bones are?

patrkyhntrFrom my limited knowledge of skeletal anatomy, I think the hyoid bones are the only "floating bones" in a cat's skeleton. The hyoids (four in number) support the voice box and are not connected to any other bones in the neck, thus they are said to be "floating." I don't know for sure if this is what was presented to the hunter, but suspect it to be so. Hope this helps.
