Anybody remember Damart....which was the original synthetic fiber materials marketed to the NFL 30+ years ago?
I do, in fact I'm wearing it right now. I bought all 3 fabric weights almost 20 years ago. Still going strong.

jwmMy job requires a great deal of heavy physical work, in extremes of temperature. UA and other synthetic underwear is a godsend in terms of keeping you dry and comfortable.
In Africa, I was taking doxycycline for malaria prevention, which only added to my already high tendency to sunburn. I had to stay covered up, long sleeves and pants, and the synthetic stuff allowed me to keep cool. I find that a wicking synthetic t-shirt under a long-sleeved button-up cotton shirt is cooler and more comfortable than the cotton alone.
I love the UA line, and the Bass Pro line called Enduraskin seems to serve equally well and is less costly.
It's amazing to me how people will moan about the slightly higher cost of something as important to your comfort as high-quality wicking underwear, and will then spend hundreds of bucks for a set of exotic wood or aluminum shooting sticks, which they then schlep halfway around the world to a continent covered with handy sticks and poles.

24mileboyI have 6 UA shirts/tees but for the underwear I buy these instead. Jockey microfiber or cotton spandex at the bottom of the page. they are very comfortable in the heat and cold.

MARK H. YOUNGTim,
Since you may be the resident UA expert can you tell me if the the pants are noisy in the bush? They appear to have the same finish as the Exaficio stuff Sadie tried a few years ago. She found she just could not wear them in the bush as they were super noisy.

Bill/OregonI wore a UA T-shirt in Namibia in May 2007 for the reasons others have stated. I'm one of those guys whose back sweats buckets with minor exertion and the UA wicked all that sweat away from my skin to the cotton shirt where it could then evaporate with freezing my kidneys. I wouldn't be without the stuff.
There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t.

Tim HeraldNot bad at all Mark. We were able to get inside 25 yards on 100 elephants over 5 days while I was wearing them...no more noisy than nonbrushed cotton. They aren't swishy nylon...I think the "ripstop" in them helps as well. Sort of gives some texture...

MARK H. YOUNGTim,
Sounds good. How many used pairs of Levis, Carharts, Dickies etc will it take for an even trade for a pair of UA pants?

MARK H. YOUNGTim,
Yeah! I suppose being aware of my "Commando" preference might make my old jeans the "Pants of Last Resort". It was just a thought!
