Tigers in Africa?
I was surfing outfitters in South Africa and came upon Camdeboo Safari Tours. In their introduction they said "Let us show you the real Africa where lions and tigers and elephants roam free." Tigers? Am I missing something? I know that South Africa has a large Indian minority, but did they bring their wildlife with them? Maybe I'm missing something. Maybe these folks call some other cat, like leopard, a "tiger".

Found this quite amusing.

Doesn't sound like a company I'd want to have book a safari for me! They can't be too smart if they think there are wild tigers in Africa, especially for legal hunting! As the old hill billy would say "THAY'S PLUMB DUMB!"

They should consider renaming their company to "Camdeboo-boo Safaris"

Gahunter,

In the old days a leopard was referred to as a tiger probably from the Dutch word "tier".

You will of course find real tigers in Africa but only in zoos.

We had a tame lion cub in camp once and somebody (I will not reveal who) painted black stripes on him with watercolors. To the visitors he was a tiger until the rainperiod started.

Maybe someone in a big city ad agency wrote that without the safari company proofing it.
