OldsargeRe: 318 Westley Richards?
Yes, you can make the brass from '06. That's what I do, cheap bastard that I am. I just got in today and am too groggy from the flight to give a coherent report but will try to do so with pix in a day or so. Things didn't work out quite as I hoped, but the little Greener did yeoman duty so long as she could and when things went just a bit south, the big .404 Parker-Hale filled in quite nicely. The fact that there were a couple of seconds there when the possibility that I wouldn't make it back in big enough pieces to bury only added spice to the trip . . . and did we eat! Man!

prof242Ahem, wouldst bequeath upon thy bretheren, in utmost haste, a wonderous tale of thy saga amongst the savage beasts?

fredj338The .318 & reading the writings of Elmer Keith growing up, led me to making a .338-06 years ago. I have never regretted the decision. I think it's a bit better than the 30-06 especially when after game the size of elk. The .318 is a great round but so many more good bullets in .338.

Pete EI wish I did own a classy .318... but all I have is a rather ordinary CZ550 9.3x62 which I am hoping to put to some good use next year.
Its funny how some caliber and rifle combinations seem to have a certain "romance" about them...A worked over Remington in .338 Win Mag will kill plains game like the Hammer of Thor but just seems lack that certain "something" of an old Mauser in a classic African chambering...
regards,
Pete
