MinkmanBest time to hunt Buffalo - Poll
Scanning the two other African hunting threads here at AR, I've noticed that people are always going hunting in Africa. Only possible exception is December. Hence my question:

When is the best time to hunt buffalo?

Please feel free to add any justification for your favorite time. Such as places, weather, greenery, etc.

Thanks

MinkmanFeb- AprMay - JuneJuly - AugustSept. - OctNov. - Jan

bwanamrmI think the answer to the question is "whenever you get the chance!"

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
- Rudyard Kipling

T.CarrIf you can stand the heat, I vote for September-October. The pans have dried up, concentrating the game around the few available water sources (hopefully the rains haven't started). Buffalo have to drink at least once a day.

Just depends on where you are going and how much it has rained. Early in Zim duing a wet year can be a problem because the foliage is so darn dense that you can't see buff but they can see you. Better off late than early, if you have the choice.

ShumbaI hunted Chewore the first time in late October and the 2nd time in August.
August was warm, but nice. October was HOT!!!!!
Had a great hunt both times and shot/saw alot of animals both times. Hunting may have been slightly better in October, but be prepared to do a lot of hiking/walking in 105+ degree heat.
