465H&Hozhunter! I hunted there in Units 1 and 2 for tuskless and killed two in 7 days. Seemed to be quite a few around there in 2002.

JudgeGI hunted there in November/December last year.. had Chicken breast for Thanksgiving Dinner. I got into lots of elephants, but no tuskless cows. One very good thing, however, was that Graham (one of the owners of HHK), kept daily track of my safari, and when we didn't have luck, moved me to another camp.
At the HHK concession, in six days, I saw sixty or so elephant, tons of PG, lions, buffalo, wild dogs, etc. It was like a private tour in the zoo. Facilities are great, also. If you go, please say hello to the green tree snake that I saw daily on the path to my rondeval.

If the Gov't doesn't screw up things, Matetsi will continue to be wonderful.. and the 25 minute ride from Vic Falls airport ain't bad either.
There may be places where the tuskless cow to tusked cow are higher, I reckon, but if the Creeks don't rise I (like Governor Arnold) will be back!!!

I hunted Matetsi Unit 1 the last of July this year. While there I only saw a total of 4 elephant. I was there finishing up a combo hunt with friends which included tuskless cow, buffalo and plains game. For buffalo and elephant we hunted in Sijarira. We saw an average of 15 elephant a day with a total of only 3 tuskless cows. I was told that trophy fee was the same for tusked and tuskless but very few permits were available for tusked.

GanyanaThe best area for tuskless is the Zambezi Valley. They do occur in reasonable numbers right across the north of the country, but are locally more prevelent in some spots than others.

465H&HI should have mentioned in my earlier post that I was there in November/December. There were lots of elephants there at that time of year. Graham can tell you what the chances are at the time of year you will be hunting there.
