Mark Sullivan's son; Shawn.

ErikDMark Sullivan's son; Shawn.
The recent MS thread, combined with reading his book at the moment got me to wondering if anyone has hunted with his son; Shawn.
And does Shawn Sullivan have the same kind of "let the XXXX decide how it want's to die" mentality?
Is he still a PH? And if so, who does he hunt for. Never seem to hear much about him...

500grainsI have not noticed him at the MS booth at SCI.

LorenzoI saw him in one of his father videos.
I thought it was his younger brother, thanks for the clarification. In his buffs the clients were the only ones shooting at the buffs, no backup needed..

Widowmaker416I also saw him on one of Marks videos. They were after a wounded Lion. His son didn't seem that "out spoken" like his old man.
I've never seen him at the MS booth at Reno, never heard anything more about him..........

That's what I recall from the film(s?) too. That he was, well, more normal! And seemed like a decent kind of guy that might be nice to have as a PH. I also don't recall him shooting his clients animals, although I see in MS's book that he has shot backup shots several times when animals were getting away. Fair enough.
Kind of strange that he'd "disappear" from the hunting scene so completely.

MacD37Shawn Sullivan should just about now completeing law school! He is not a PH, but did apprentice with his father for one season, if I'm not mistaken!
Like everyone else here, Shawn seems like a nice guy, and I'm sure Mark is as well! I find Mark a little of a "LOOK AT ME" type, that hasn't infected his son, it seems. This may be a wrong opinion, but I think I'd much rather hunt with Shawn, than Mark!
I think if Shawn does PH in Africa, it will be on a part time basis, and his law practice will be top billing!

JBrownBecause Shawn came off as such a good guy in the video I found that my view of his father changed. If the videos were an accurate depiction of MS I don't believe he could have raised a son of such high character.
I agree with everything said in this thread except:

Do remember, more than a few have rejected high class careers and, "all the muggings and shush and tinfoil society," that go along with them for a career earning pennies in the African bush. I believe Gordon Cundell was once a lawyer.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.
Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

I always assumed Shawn's disappearance was a demonstration of good sense and ethical behavior on his part, after he found out what his daddy was all about. However, if he is becoming a lawyer, I may have to reconsider.

PathfinderI talked with Shawn at the last SCI convention in Vegas so I guess that's what two years ago. He told me he was headed for law school so I would assume that's exactly what he did. He is a very nice, professional young man and conducts himself professionally in his dad's video as well.
