KathiNew Zambia Allocations, Quotas and Government Fees Take Effect in 2013
By Barbara Crown, Editor
As reported in the December 2012 issue of The Hunting Report, Zambia has closed the tendering process for the reallocation of hunting concessions. While the results may not be known until sometime in January, the new government fees and quotas were released as part of the tendering process. The Hunting Report obtained a copy of that paperwork. Below are the new trophy fees by species in Zambian Kwacha and in US Dollars (per conversion rates in late November 2012). Treat the US amounts as approximations, since you can expect those rates to be rounded up, sometimes by a few 100 dollars. For example, the amount for a lion is $10,936.57 according to the conversion rate, but one operator I communicated with said to expect the final number to be about $11,800. Sable should be $3,550, and buffalo $3,000. To get a better understanding of each concession area, changes in quotas and how hunting is organized in Zambia, check our Zambia Country Report 2008 edition, now on clearance for only $5 in our Online Store (limited copies available).
