scruffyI have grossly overtipped on my safaris and want that money back ..
I am happily reading 'White Hunter' by Brian Herne. On pages 178-179 he tells of white hunter
Bill Jenvey guiding a chap named Gurnee Munn Jr. of Palm Beach, Florida.
On this Kenyan safari right after WW 2 he and his client got:
Elephant 148 .. 146 pounds
Leopard length of 10 feet 3/8 inches 225 pounds
Cape Buffalo 49 7/8 inches
This aside .. Jenvey started working for Safariland's Tom Murray at $32 a month. On the first hunt (Tana River and later Uaso Nyiro River they took three bulls ... 122, 115, and 118 for three Americans...
Damn, but those were the days .. and not being prone to bitterness, I do not need any long ago tips returned ...

sdirksThat's a great book. Read it several times and it's the perfect thing on a cold snowy day.

NakihunterA 10 foot leopard that is 225 lbs would look like a giant weasel with just skin and bones!
For some comparison a 10 tiger or lion would be close to 500 lbs. Never heard of a 10 foot jaguar though they have been weighed at 400 lbs.
That leopard must have been skinned, stretched, spliced with an insert and measured with a tape that went 10 inches to a foot.
Old trick used by the Indian hunters working for some of the lesser Maharajas!
LOL!
