loucfir375 H&H Ammo-Over the counter
Yesterday my new 375 arrived from Hill Country Rifle and just in time. I leave for Durbin, SA in less than a month. It was test fired with Federal 300 grain Bear claw and the test target put three rounds almost touching. I on the otherhand shot yesterday with Hornady 300 FMJ, all I had available and had great results, other than the lump over the eye! I'm wondering, what is the best over the counter 375 ammo for plains game.

fredj338For softs, I would take the ammo that shoots best in your rifle. Federal has a good lineup of ammo as does Remington. If you are just after plainsgame, the Fed. 260gr NAB would be a good choice.

RiodotAny over the counter that loads Barnes X bullets. I have used PMC with good luck.

dogcatI used Federal 300gr. trophy bonded bearclaws and trophy bonded sledgehammers in my .375 on plains game and buff. THey shot very well and created some very dead animals.

D. NelsonI've had great results (even took an elephant with frontal brain shot) with Federal 300 gr. .375 Trophy Bonded Sledgehammer. I won't use anything else besides that and 300 gr Trophy Bonded Bear Claw.

bwana dogoThe best OTC ammo for your 375 is the one that shoots the best in your gun of the premium bullet lines.Sounds like your 375 is very easy to please, so this will be fun to figure out.Bwana dogo

30ott6It appears that Federal is getting away from the TBBC's and using Barnes TSX. I love the TSX!

A great bullet and takes all of the guesswork out of the equation since it shoots an inch or less with this load....why change?

My 375H&H also likes the 300gr Federal std velocity Trophy Boned Bearclaws and they worked great for me on everything from impala to eland.

vapodogwhen it comes to plains game the .375 H&h in and of itself is sufficient.....I'd use almost any 270 grain load....even the core-lokt.....
For DG I'd like a much better bullet.....but then it's a handload for me.
The suggestion of Superior bullets is a good one.....check them out.

Add my vote for bearclaws and sledgehammers. My favorite solid was the woodleigh but federal stopped loading them. Also you cant go wrong with the A-frame

hacksawtomTake the one that shoots the best in your rifle!
Swift, Silent, & Friendly
The best over the counter ammunition for your rifle is the one soft and/or the one solid that shoots the best out of your rig.

MARK H. YOUNGloucfir,
If the Federal loading with the Trophy Bonded Bear Claws shoot that well you are all set for this upcoming hunt. I personally have had excellent luck with that load. In the furure as Eric suggested you might want to consider the Superior Ammo route to get the best performance out of your particular rifle. They also will be able to have a solid and soft load for you shooting to the same POI.

Ooohhhh, please don't tell me that! If I want a "softpoint" that acts like a solid (TSX), I'll shoot solids (Sledgehammers).
