Buffalo are in the Save Conservancy (a couple of bow hunters didn't get their animals which is why there is quota left). You can have a decent PH like Gordon Duncan or perhaps even me There is a limited ammount of plains game also availabel

And on top of that you get to hunt with Ganyana(he might even tell you his name). I would jump on this in a second if I was not in the early stages of starting a family.

The single best part is that you know if Ganyana is involved the hunt is above board. Which is no little detail in Zimbabwe, as we all know.

Dates are open until 31st Decmeber- but my daily rate goes up to 1000 a day over Christmas

Other costs... For the Buff - Transfer from Harare - road 200 each way- it is the best part of a days drive so not included in the "hunting days" (but you will need 9 days for 7 days of hunting) Air charter is about 1k. Your booking agent may be able to get you a reasonable deal on a charter from Jo'burg to Buffalo range airport (which has immigration facilities) and is only 45 mins from the hunting lodge.) Shangaan hunters are the operator here and they run a really superb set up.

For the ele, road transfer only. The area is much closer to Harare so if you want to include it in the hunting day, no transfer fee. If not, then 200 each way to cover the extra day and fuel etc.

Another great thing about this hunt will be the weather. If it is like my hunt in Zim in late October of 2003 you should get some very hot days with a couple of cool rainy days to break things up. The heat is unforgettable and tracking Elephants in the rain was a real highlight of my hunt.

What is the definition of a "non trophy" Elephant for this hunt: cow only, tuskless bull or any bull but non export?

Have bulls and 1 cow permits left. Non trophy is anything you pull the trigger on that is not for export. (don't expect to see anything over 35lbs at this time of the year in that area.) If something exceptional appears and you want it and want to take the tusks home you will have to pay the additional fee demanded by the central bank to allow export (ie US$12k for daily rate, transfer fees and trophy fee combined)

NB, the buff trophies are exportable as $5500inc is abvove the minimum.

Very tempting, but what would a divorce cost me for yet another hunt this year.

Don't think so. Gordon is out on a hunt at the moment and coms are poor, but I understand Kudu, Wildebeest, impala and perhaps eland are available.

I'm sorry, but what does that statement mean? I'm figuring like crazy here and am trying to figure out 7 days (9 total) VS 10 days (12) for buffalo. Is there any plains game available?

Zimbabwe has a system of "legal Minimums" that an operator may charge (and bank) if he wishes to export the trophies. If someone is selling you a buff hunt (daily rate and trophy fee combined) of under US$5250 (used to be 4750 but has just gone up) you are going to have trouble exporting your trophies. In fact the operator will need prior permission from the reserve bank. If an operator is selling you an Elephant for under US$12000 (daily rate and trophy fee combined) it is non exportable without prior arrangement.

Oh my gosh, I can't believe I missed this. I was in Zimbabwe when he posted it. DAMN. I saw more elephants than you can shake a 458 at. Just my luck, I was dying to shoot an elephant.

Are accomodations at Senuko Lodge? If so, that is another "bonus", as this may be the nicest hunting lodge in Zimbabwe.

Any chance of getting Henry Princloo for the PH? I assume Henry and Jumbo parted ways after their deal went "up in smoke" so to speak.

Deka tail safari Area is leased by parks to Tobi Musariri and Managed (read sub let) by Gordon Banks.

Lodging? On one of the infamous GDRDGS (Ganyana's Double Rugged Dangerous Game safaris)? That is an injustice. Make em sleep under the blanket which is the African night, eat Nimo beans and Cornbeef, while drinking Old Mull.

Is that a good area for trophy elephant bulls?

The biggest bulls routienly come out of Gona-re-zhou / Kruger area of southern Africa. The next largest are the Hwange?chobe population, so anywhere in Matetsi or along the Hwange boundry is good for big bulls. There have been some very good elephant taken out of the Zambezi and Sebungwe areas over the years but they are a far smaller proportion of the population compared to the West and South.

I am a little late getting in. Had my 2005 safari cancelled by the PH...put a 28 day ele hunt over my dates and another hunters 14 day elephant hunt. I was on a 7 day buff hunt I won, then added 7 days for hippo and croc. Any chance of the latter two on your Buff deal?? How many Elephant tags are left?? Maybe there is still a chance in 2005?/ Got Fuel??

Due to water supply problems shangaan hunters have withdrawn their buff offer as they are not completly happy a client would get a fair shot at one.

Swainson's safaris have 4 buff left @ 6k for a five day hunt including transfer fees, government 2% levee, medial air evac insurance etc. swainson@mweb.co.zw

Elephant are still on. John SC from the forum got a bull for his 5.5k

damn this pisses me off i wish i had my 505........maybe next year i would definitly book three and probably 4-5 and maybe through in a buff to go with it but at these prices the elephants are my main target.
