SBTWhy Not The Chanjuzi GMA in Zambia's Luangwa Valley?
Can anyone tell me why it would be a poor choice to hunt the Chanjuzi GMA for lion/leopard/buffalo and assorted plains game in September of 2006?

DonatoSBT, I don't know anything about the Chanjuzi GMA but I hunted the lower Lupande GMA with Peter Chipman this past Sept. and saw three leopards in broad daylight, two lions and we weren't really looking for them and lots of buffalo. I got lucky and took a very nice buff on day 5 on a 7/day buff hunt. I'd go back again next year if I could afford it.

craneIt might be a bad idea in that the cats are gone for 2006.

T.CarrGenerally speaking, John du Plooy and Chanjuzi have a good reputation.

SBTBTT. I should receive my contract this weekend. Before I sign, I'd like to hear your thoughts. Lion/Leopard/Buffalo/Hippo/Roan/Croc etc are all on license.

craneSBT- If you are a subscriber to the Hunting Report, do a search for Zambia, Luangwa, etc. You will get a few hits for Mr. DuPloyy and Mr. Norton. There are no negatives.I'm all but there for 2007.

Relax! Even if you didn't book it with me I'm still sure you'll have a great time. The Luangwa should be teeming with game come Sept.

In Aug 2003, three of us hunted with MUCHINGA ADVENTURES, LTD. which is John DuPlooy's operation. Go back to Hunting Reports in AR...21 Sep 03 for my report on the hunt.
A good friend of mine hunted with MUCHINGA this Oct, and on the second day of the hunt, shot a very nice (38") buffalo. He said in hind sight, he should have waited to look over more of the "critters", as there were lots of them. He also saw lion, but no leopard. He also indicated that all lion on quoto for 2006 has been spoken for.
Good luck, JLS

SBTThanks to all who posted here and sent private messages and e-mails. The deed is done. I have booked a 21 day safari in the Chanjuzi GMA with Muchinga Adventures for September 1-21 of 2006 with lion on quota. I was also succesful in booking 2 round trip tickets for this trip using frequent flyer miles. Life is good.
