DB BillScope On An O/U Rifle ???
I was looking at a 9.3x74R O/U rifle yesterday and it had what I would estimate as a standing rib that was 1/3 of the barrel length. The open sights were a simple "V" and a fairly small bead on the front post. Except for the read v-sight there wasn't anything else on the rib that would facilitate the installation of a scope.
My question is, in this situation, what is the best way to mount a scope so it is quickly detachable and hopefully wouldn't look like "crap" when the scope was off?

308SakoBill, Look to New England Custom Gun NECG's web site for German Claw Mounts. They work for me on my Browning O/U .30-06 Continental. Good shooting

308Sako,
Have you hunted Africa with your Cotinental? I have been considering a set to use on PG and birds on safari. How is the trigger? I have some concerns about a shotgun trigger with rifle barrels. Any info about the Continental would be appreciated.
Bill what kind of a gun was that? Rizzini? Don't buy it if it is! JUNK!
Buy a D97 Blaser!
Yes, claw mounts would be best. Do a search for einhakmontage and you should see them, Suhl makes good ones. I will say they aren't cheap, would guess around a thousand U.S., and the scope used should have a rail on it, Waidmannsheil, Dom.

butchloccheck the rib width. I've got a pair of berettas. the 06 I made a small block and screwed it to the rib, to which the scope mounts (leupolds) and another 9.3x74 that the leupold detachable rings just needed a small milling groove to fit on. Both work excellent. on the shotgun question - I've also got a 20 ga barrel set that snaps onto either rifle. This system works great, in fact this year after I shot my ele I had the 9.3 along to blast away at other stuff, and the shotgun barrels kept the game in poultry products for the duration

Recknagel
http://www.recknagel.de/ will send you a catalog if you request it. They are the provider of mounts to NECG. Their catalog is much more extensive (for mounts) than NECG's.
