Thank you very much. Yes sir, plan is to be back there again come 2024. Flights seems to be an issue at the moment, but hoping that it will fix itself.

KMG Hunting SafarisOne of the greatest success stories in conservation has to be the Bontebok. Where they were once down to numbers quoted as low as 17 individual animals, through private ownership, they were saved from the brink of extinction. One only needs to see them in real life to truly appreciate their vivid colors. Through the sustainable utilization of these animals and giving them value, their numbers have flourished well into the thousands.

KMG Hunting SafarisProper Blue Wildebeest taken with us. They are no doubt the toughest animals on the plains.
Born sick, the more you shoot them the healthier they get.

KMG Hunting SafarisWhat a stunning, vivid Zebra in windy conditions. After a 2hour stalk getting the wind right, we managed to find some high vegetation allowing us to close the distance on this group. From a distance, we singled out a different individual, but once we got ready, and this stallion stepped out, our minds were changed.

KMG Hunting SafarisBeautiful, old Gemsbuck with secondary growth at the bases. Personally, Gemsbuck is my favorite table fare. This was an extremely windy day, and we had to get close to make this shot, and take the elements out of the equation.

KMG Hunting SafarisAfter spotting a bull across a valley, we had to make our way all along a ridge to try and get within acceptable range. As we slowly negotiated our way, needing to cross open ground where we would become visible to the bull, we slowly advanced all along the ridge, almost in a colosseum setting.
We still had another 300 yards to go on the stalk, when a flash caught my eye a mere 80 yards in front of us. This bull, was working over a shrub with his horns.
Both the hunter and I froze, and tried to melt away into the vegetation in order to first confirm that he was a mature bull indeed.
Upon confirmation, we slowly set up the shooting sticks and waited for him to present us with the opportunity.

Bwana338Hi Marius,
Some nice trophy animals you were able to put your hunter on.
Now if I remember correctly, i thought that you were Mr. Invisible while in the field.
All kidding aside, been there done that trying to hide behind a blade of grass and having 100’s of yards to cover. Then you throw in the Rock country side that you have a difficult time walking in normal conditions.
Wells done.

KMG Hunting SafarisCaught this pig napping in the morning sun and managed to get a quick photo through the spotting scope before commencing on the stalk. Could see exactly which open patch he was aiming for with the short green shoots. Tried to stalk him and can you believe it, got lost among all the high trees....hahaha. Never could find that patch. If only we could find an individual that puts the "P" in Professional Hunter...

KMG Hunting SafarisThis was another lesson taught by nature. Although on Black and Blue Wildebeest, the red hair between the bosses can often signify a younger bull, this bull was absolutely ancient. Teeth worn down to nubs. Also, notice the worn down tips. Love these old buggers.

KMG Hunting SafarisThe toughness of these animals never seem to amaze. They are not called poor man's buffalo for nothing. Found an old bullet under the skin on the shoulder on this absolutely magnificent Blue Wildebeest bull. Noticed the polished bosses on this specific individual. Once we laid eyes on him, the decision was easily made.

KMG Hunting SafarisVery nice Golden Wildebeest taken on the same hunt while looking for Buffalo. Wildebeest was taken with a 300WSM and required a tricky shot. The rifle/ammo combination worked a charm on this one, and only one shot was needed. The Aussies strike again.

KMG Hunting SafarisTime for junior to get in on the action. Great Black Wildebeest with some proper head gear.

KMG Hunting SafarisThis is what we came for. Just another reminder of how tough these animals are. "Killing Buffalo is easy. Convincing them that they are dead is the hard part." Hunting these Buffalo in the mountains is a change from the traditional tracking hunt, and quite enjoyable.

I took my first buffalo bull in RSA on a mountain hunt like that. Even though the ranch was fenced, we spend days and days trying to get a shot at him. They were switched on big time and it was a lot of fun.

Estimate this entire herd of 150-200 strong. Some cows with bulls, some bachelor herds. Found a few small mobs of bulls, but too young, some just not there yet. Then bumped this guy at 25 yards with his head down in the long grass not paying attention. Enough cover to sit down and have a good look at him before making the decision.

KMG Hunting SafarisBeautiful Kudu bull that we spotted from a long ways away. Made our move to try and get onto a plateau above him. From our best position it was still a stretch, and as luck had it, he fed all the way in our direction where we have a prone shot off a table top rocky outcrop. Only one shot was needed from the trusty 300 Win Mag to seal the deal.

Bwana338Hi Marius,
I appears that you have had a good year.
Many fine trophies were taken by numerous clients.
That says a lot about your operation.
Well done.
Will you be attending the DSC convention in January?

KMG Hunting SafarisRedemption! Beautiful and heavy Nyala bull in one of our free range areas. Last hunt took us a day after our hunter left to find his Nyala. This time he came with a vengeance. The misty conditions helped us close the distance over some open terrain. We had a few nervous moments when the squawking birds made the bull uneasy, but staying low, accompanied by the fog gave us enough to make our opportunity count.

KMG Hunting SafarisWhile skinning out the Nyala, we decided to go into a secluded valley to have a look around and possibly see a Kudu bull. This area has some extremely thick canopy bush, and a more passive type approach is often required with a lot of glassing. We picked a game trail and followed for a bit until we found an open patch where we could sit and glass a bit. We spotted this old Bushbuck ram feeding mid morning, and it didn't take much convincing to do.
The recovery was a long and steep one with no roads in the area. By the time we got to good ground, the ram had already stiffened up. This was the only pose we could muster.

KMG Hunting SafarisBeautiful Roan bull that crossed the magical number. Great secondary growth at the basis shows that this is a grand old bull to take. After spotting this bull across a valley on a windy day, we made our way into the shade, slowly descending into the dark undergrowth of the valley. Found a few places where the Cape Buffaloes like to roll in the mud, and luckily this time, they were away from home. Leaving our tracker on the other side with a radio, gave us a spotter from a far, guiding us to peak at the correct spot.
After getting into position, the bull started feeding in our direction, and seem to pick us out if the shadows a lot quicker than I anticipated. By this stage, we had been on the sticks for a while. The 300 Win Mag cut through the wind and we lost sight after the shot.
Dogs located him quickly in the long grass. Definitely one of the animals where you want to make sure of your shot.
