Barnes TSX 235 grain 375 H&H Bullets
Any of you out there hunted with this bullet. I am thinking about loading some and taking on my upcoming plains game hunt, what do you think?

I haven't tried it yet but am also looking for feedback since California has banned lead bullets and this will be my deer hunting bullet in the future.

I have no experience with the 235 Gr TSX but I had great results with the 270Gr TSX mixed with RE15. Velocity was 2800 fps out of my 24 inch Winchester M70.

Haven't made it across the pond yet, but I did manage to take a couple of deer last year with the 235 gr TSX @ a little over 2900fps. Absolutely devastating performance, went down like they were struck by lightning.

BARNES ALSO MAKES A 200 GR, IVE CHROGRAPHED IT @3000 FPS USING BLC 2; WILL BE TRYING THAT ON PG THIS YR!

Ive used the old BarnesX 210gr o a black wildebeest (the largest critter) and a couple more critters that were tottaly passtroughs but on the black wildebeest frontal shot it performed perfectly. One petal broke off entered on the point of his left shoulder destroyed the lung and found the bullet in the rumen.

I would say don't expect the greatest SD and penetration compared to heavier barnesX bullets but on plainsgame and running at 2950fps the best I could get it with our local powders it worked out perfectly. I still have two boxes left and am going to use them still.

I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

Mike Kibble in Namibia was using the 235XLC in a M70 375 on PG backup, when I hunted with him.

It absolutely "electrified" a couple of Hartebeest he culled with it thumb

Range was about 225 yards.

Might be a little light in weight for eland, but should do fine for all other plains game. I've not tended toward light-for-caliber bullets to this degree for African game, but can't see that a well-built bullet of this size would do anything other than whack 'em.

Might be a little tough to get to shoot well, given a standard barrel twist for a 375. But you don't know until you try some.

Light .375 monos do well on African Plains Game game including Eland. The bullets below were recovered from quartering shots on Eland. Broadside they shoot through.

Have not used them on African plains game, but have used the older X bullets in 210 and 235 on elk in Colorado. Both worked exceptionally well.
